| This week just ain't happenin'. See, I needed to go shopping last Friday. We were out of produce, allowable snacks, and all sorts of other stuff. Not good. But, Rob wanted to go with me, since he just started Weight Watchers, and he wanted to help choose his food. Unfortunately, he got off late from work, and was tired, and just wanted to go out to eat, and hit the electronics store, although Little Miss Feisty and I did convince him to drop us off at the "girl store" (Ulta). Saturday we went to our pastors house for dinner. His wife makes the world's BEST lasagna! Sunday I decided to have more than a salad for lunch, since I'd already cheated the past 2 days, and still hadn't shopped, so I couldn't be good at home later anyways. Monday we were going to shop, but then Rob's parents came back from a trip, and we all decided to go out for Mexican for Cinco de Mayo, and visit. FUN! Oh, and then there was the hot fudge sundae... Tuesday we were going shopping, but in order to do it quickly, we stopped for fast food on the way. At that point, I decided that I was done for the week. I could be good Wednesday and Thursday, but there is an annual event on Friday that we'll be attending. Because of the distance, we usually end up eating dinner on the road, then stopping at Denny's for dessert on the way back. Sunday is Mother's Day... So I decided that Monday, I'd start all over. No use going through withdrawals Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday, just to be bad again those other days right? So, we shopped. At which point my body said "Whoa, whoa, WHOA! I read your blog lady! You said that we'd go shopping and eat well again on Monday. It is now TUESDAY, and now you're saying, not until NEXT Monday?!?!?!?!?! Perhaps I should remind you WHY you're doing this diet???" So we slowly made our way through Costco and Winco. Slowly being the key word. It took us over 4 hours to shop those 2 stores. I convinced my body to shut up with a mocha later So, Monday. I promise! Monday, the diet will resume, in full force! | | |
| Oops! Well, I'm going to come right out and say it. I haven't been completely strict with the diet since last Thursday. But there was a reason! We were invited to our pastors house for dinner Saturday night, and knowing that it was coming up, I wanted to slowly introduce some grains and sugar the couple of days preceeding that, so that I wouldn't throw myself all out of whack. Today, was the same, and yes I had to confess that, or else a certain reader, who sat across from me at lunch, might "out" me Although I can say, that I did not have dessert after lunch Tomorrow back to the diet! Thankfully, the scale hasn't changed since the last day I was strict! I am now (in 2 weeks time) down from 220, to 214.6, and have lost quarter inches, half inches, and even a full inch, from my measurements! | | |
| But that's okay! For breakfast I had a smoothie from the FINALLY ripe bananas that I bought on Monday, frozen peaches, frozen berries, and of course, orange juice No yogurt yet, as I was waiting for the banana's to ripen before I made it. I made it up tonight, and it's now "cooking" until tomorrow night. For lunch I had a salad. The church we're attending has a potluck type lunch, so I brought a nice big salad to share, with my own "legal" dressing. Here's the recipe if anyone's interested. First we start with homemade mayonnaise, to be sure that I know what's in it, and nothing's sneaking past me This makes about 1 cup of mayonnaise. 1 c. oil divided 4 t. vinegar 1 egg 1/4 t. salt pepper (to taste) paprika (to taste) In a blender blend 1/4 oil and remaining ingredients. Continuing to blend, add remaining oil very slowly. Voila! Mayonnaise! (and WAY better tasting than the stuff from the store) Okay, now for the dressing... 1/2 c. mayonnaise 1/3 c. white vinegar 1 t. vegetable oil 2 T. grated parmesan cheese 2 T. grated romano cheese 1/2 t. minced garlic 1/2 t. Italian seasonings 1/2 t. parsley flakes 1 T. lemon juice Just blend them all together, and you have a nice creamy italian dressing If it's too tart for your liking, you can add a bit of sugar to it. Poor Rob! I realized late last night that I had broken my candy thermometer, and needed a new one to make yogurt today. So he dropped me off at the store on the way home from church. When I got back in the car, I was telling him all about the sugar free salsa I found, and how excited I was, that I could make my mexican deviled eggs with it. He said "OH NO!", and I looked up to see that he had bought me a ginormous Pepsi at Taco Bell as a surprise He'd had a memory lapse and forgotten about the diet! Poor guy! I reminded him that it was the thought that counted, and if he wanted to do me a really huge favor, he could drink it for me I had a snack of trail mix when we got home. Tonight I made myself some chicken salad, using broccoli, instead of celery, which I'd realized I'd forgotten to pick up on Monday. I ended up liking it with broccoli better anyways! Rob of course LOVES when I eat chicken salad (it's full of onions and garlic ). Dinner tonight was "fend for yourself" (except for the kids, who had leftover cinnamon rolls and yogurt). Rob decided he really wanted Italian from a little place not far from here, and he brought me home an all fruit smoothie Okay, so we've determined that because the scale tells the truth, in a brutally honest manner, that it must be a guy, do we have any name suggestions?

| and down. That's been the past 2 days. Yesterday I was up a pound and a half. Today, I was back down a pound and a half. Such fluctiations should be expected I guess. That's why you're not supposed to weigh yourself 2-3 times a day I guess Today I had broccoli, sugar snap peas, and tomatoes for lunch again, with a glass of orange juice. I somehow made it through the day without a snack. I was surprised when I tried to remember what I had eaten, and realized that I hadn't had a thing, and didn't miss it! For dinner, I had planned a corned beef brisket, and cauliflower, but Rob had errands to run, so he took us out instead. I had a side caesar salad, without dressing, and Pixie Girl handled the croutons for me (so basically lettuce, and parmesan cheese), along with a sirloin steak, with steamed veggies. That's one nice thing about the popularity of Atkins. Restaurants now don't bat an eye at substituting steamed, sauteed, or sometimes even grilled, veggies, for the potatoes. When we got home I had a hankering for a little something. So I had a bit of trail mix, and a glass of... Yep We'll see what the scale says tomorrow. I think it needs a name. Then I can say "________ says I weigh" or "We'll see what ________ says tomorrow" I guess first it needs a gender though | | |

Down 4 1/2 pounds from Monday. **faint** I'm feeling great too! I eat as much as I want every day, and just substitute fruit for sweet cravings, and veggies for the need for something crunchy. I didn't have breakfast today. Honestly, I was so stuffed from last night, that I wasn't hungry at all this morning. By lunch time I was beginning to get a little hungry, so I had a bowl of cherry tomatoes, fresh broccoli, and sugar snap peas. Followed a few hours later with a spoon full of all natural, nothing added, peanut butter, and a fruit leather. For dinner tonight we had tri-tip, and sauteed mushrooms. For dessert, unsweetened applesauce. YUM! I also limited myself to just one big glass of orange juice today The rest of the day I drank water. Rob joined Weight Watchers through work this week. He's on the treadmill as I type this. I try to hit the treadmill when I think of it. But when I see him on it, the competetive side of me comes out and I get this indescribable urge to out-walk him... Things could get ugly real quick here! | | |
